Remember Last Night - Curious Zero

Inspiration

My husband owns a small non-alcoholic cocktail company, Curious Elixirs. He recently launched a new product, a non-alcoholic beer called Curious Zero that's specifically targeted towards men. I've been wanting to make an AI spec ad, so I decided to work with my husband to make a spec ad for Curious Zero.

We were brainstorming about Curious Zero and what would draw a buyer to it. Firstly, Curious Zero allows you to drink beer and stay sober, which means you can stay clear-headed and remember your nights out. Curious Zero also contains the adaptogen Maca root, and one of its benefits is boosting libido. I thought, "In what situation would a man want a beverage that allows him to stay clear-headed and boosts his libido," and a date immediately came to mind. My husband came up with the slogan, "Remember Last Night," and our concept for the ad was born.

What it does

How we built it

After picking out AI actors in "casting," I fed my character images to Nano Banana to place them in different settings and generate multiple camera angles. I edited and color corrected the images in Adobe Photoshop. Then, I used Seedance to animate non-dialogue scenes and Veo 3.1 to animate dialogue scenes. Then, I edited everything together in Adobe Premiere, did a color and audio mix pass, and generated text graphics in After Effects.

Challenges we ran into

My initial plan for the bar scene was to use actor reference video and feed it to Runway Act 2. So my husband and I acted out the whole bar scene in my kitchen (I'm a former actress) to create the reference videos. But then, I couldn't get Act 2 to give me the performance I wanted (my mannerisms are too feminine and were coming across when I was acting the male role), and in many cases, it wouldn't recognize my reference video at all. So I tossed all my reference video to the side and pivoted to Veo 3.1 instead. So we have A LOT of reference video that we didn't even use.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

My husband and I conceived of this campaign on our own, and I executed the end-to-end production by myself, from scripting to editing.
