Inspiration

Every year, millions of unused medications are wasted while thousands of people go without needed treatment due to cost or access issues. That’s where the idea of ReMed was born — a community-powered platform that gives medications a second chance to save lives.

What It Does

ReMed is a mobile and web application that enables individuals to safely and legally donate unused medications. Users can browse or search for medications available near them, and all donations are processed through verified pharmacies, ensuring safety, legality, and trust. The app includes:

  • Medicine donation & verification flow.
  • Nearby pharmacies.
  • Expiration alerts.
  • Community impact tracking.
  • Future support for medication recycling (coming soon).

How We Built It

  • Built using Bolt.new, with front-end customization in React.
  • Backend powered by Firebase (Auth, Firestore DB).
  • Deployment via Netlify.
  • Design assisted by AI-generated flows and UX principles.

Challenges

  • Handling expiration logic and edge cases in donation flow.
  • Designing UI that feels trustworthy for sensitive healthcare use-cases.
  • Creating dummy flows without real pharmacy integration (yet).
