Inspiration :
What inspired us to make Remart was that we saw that students didn't have a safe dedicated application to buy, sell and network with one another and wanted to create a platform that was geared towards college students.
What it does:
Remart is meant to be a collection of posts from our instagram page that we made to show a collection of items and services students present. It is meant to be able to easily access and view posts to buy/sell and connect with other students that have items on the platform.
How we built it:
We built it using Javascript, Html, CSS and React. This is a 100% frontend project as of now
Challenges we ran into:
We ran into alot of challenges. This is all of our first times working on a React based project and also using github version control to update parts of the project. We also learned how to make web apps work on mobile devices as well with resizing components which was really cool.We had alot of merge conflicts learning how git worked and learning how to use routes and card components through React.
Accomplishments that we proud of :
We are proud of learning how to use React and getting familiar with Git, this was a great experience for us and we know that the next hackathon will be even better prepared with a more innovative idea.
What we learned :
We learned that designation of tasks early on is essential and to set realistic expectations with the time frame that we have. Since this was our first experience with these technologies and first hackathon we had alot of fun and know to expect from now on!
What's next for Remart :
Remart is going to keep growing. Currently it's only accessible for Sac state students but as we add to the backend we want to have a place for every college! We have plans to create a backend to allow people to post their own items and services, and also create a sign in page with verification of having an .edu email so only college students can sign into the platform. This was just a stepping stone and we have alot more in store for Remart!
