Inspiration
Inability to wake up and pull myself out of bed in the morning. Inability to get quality sleep.
What it does
Sets an alarm that will wake you up at the healthiest time based on your REM cycle. It also helps you get out of bed in the morning by having the user answer a simple question.
How we built it
We made this program using the java programing language, specifically Java Swing for the GUI.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into problems calculating the time the alarm should be set as well as setting up the GUI in a presentable manner.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the fact that our program looks clean, is effective, and is genuinely useful.
What we learned
Our team learned a lot about collaborating with others, time management, and perseverance. Through the hackathon, we improved our Java programming skills as well.
What's next for REMAlarmClock
We would love for it to include different alarms for the user, a dark mode feature, and more precise calculations. We also are looking to expand to other platforms such as phone apps, and we would specifically love to use the features of the Apple Watch in our program.
