Inspiration

Relife was inspired by my passion for the environment. When I learned about the harm being done to nature, I felt compelled to take action. This project aims to reduce deforestation and waste while promoting sustainability through eco-friendly, seed-tipped pencils. It’s my way of contributing to a cleaner, greener future.

What it does

Relife produces eco-friendly, seed-tipped pencils made from recycled paper. After use, these pencils can be planted to grow trees, helping reduce deforestation and promoting sustainability. The product not only provides a practical writing tool but also contributes to reforestation and environmental awareness.

How we built it

We built Relife by combining eco-friendly innovation with sustainable practices. Our team started by researching recycled paper as an alternative to wood for pencil production. We then developed a unique design, embedding seeds in the pencil tips so they can be planted after use. With the help of skilled craftsmen and environmental experts, we created handmade prototypes and refined the process for larger-scale production. Collaboration with educational institutions and environmental organizations also helped us promote and improve the product.

Challenges we ran into

The challenges we faced included securing mentorship and guidance to navigate the business landscape effectively, as well as obtaining funding for machinery, production space, and scaling operations. These hurdles slowed our initial progress but also motivated us to seek strategic partnerships and refine our business model.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of several accomplishments:

Sold 5000 handmade pencils. Runner-up in the Zindigi Prize Regionals and TIE Student Competition. Winner in the Maker Festival and Babson Global Local Challenge. Featured on four major morning shows and in various news outlets. Productively met with Fahad Shahbaz from the Prime Minister Youth Program and presented our pencils to the Governor of Punjab.

What we learned

We learned how to transform our environmental project into a viable business by developing a clear business model, securing funding, and scaling production. We also gained insights into market demand, effective marketing strategies, and how to optimize operations for long-term growth.

What's next for ReLife

Our next steps include securing funding to purchase machinery, which will allow us to scale production and take our eco-friendly seed-tipped pencils to the industrial level. This will help us meet growing demand, expand our market reach, and further promote sustainability

We are proud to be the first contestants on Shark Tank Pakistan, Season 1. This journey has been transformative, and we are deeply grateful to our family, friends, and mentors for their support. Special thanks to Mr. Fakhar Abbas, and Mam Ammara Awais for their invaluable guidance.

While we didn’t secure a deal with the Sharks, pitching ReLife to top investors like Faisal Aftab, Romanna Dada, and Rabeel Warraich was an incredible learning experience. It helped us identify areas for improvement and strengthened our resolve.

This is just the beginning, and we’re more determined than ever. Thank you for believing in us
