Inspiration
We wanted to create something that helped students by organizing often chaotic Discord channels into more specific parts and giving roles to channel members to help manage it.
What it does
The Bot connects students to the appropriate Discord channel for their classes by providing a link when called.
How we built it
Using Node.Js, the Discord API, and HTML editors we were able to code out the bot in Java Script.
Challenges we ran into
We had to learn some Java Script and familiarize ourselves with Discord and developer tools like Git Hub and Node, most of which we had little experience with prior.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building the bot taught us a lot about the variety of coding languages and the process to select which one to utilize for this project based on what would be the most easily transferable between all the programs we used. We are proud of how we managed a task we were somewhat unprepared for and learned what we needed to to make it functional in a short period of time.
What we learned
We learned that within already built programs, there can still be an amount of customization when someone creates a program to work with the original product.
What's next for Reliable Hen
We will be studying, learning, and experimenting with more languages and concepts and coming back next year more equipped for the challenges.
