On The Go (OTG) started as an idea we had as a group of students who wanted real experience after registering for the Hack The Track hackathon - a chance to build something meaningful, and an opportunity to challenge ourselves while juggling school and full-time jobs. We knew it wouldn’t be easy- but we were motivated, determined, and ready to put in the late nights (and a few sleepless ones) to bring this project to life. OTG analyzes racing telemetry and performance data by feeding raw datasets into an AI model that cleans, interprets, and converts everything into clear, helpful insights that drivers and teams can act on. On the backend, we built secure API connections, cleaned massive and confusing datasets, and wrote Python scripts that break down lap times, weather conditions, race performance, and driver improvement opportunities. On the frontend, we created an interactive dashboard using Dash and Plotly, giving users simple, visual ways to explore telemetry, compare drivers, and understand exactly where performance can improve. We definitely ran into challenges - time pressure, Large datasets, API limits, and a frontend that crashed more times than we could count. But we pushed through it together. We’re proud of how we communicated, planned, and supported each other, and how we managed to balance school, work, and this hackathon without giving up. Throughout this process, we picked up new skills in Python, Dash, pandas, Plotly, API integration, and full-stack development. The experience taught us a lot about our strengths as individuals and as a team. Looking ahead, we want to add real-time analysis, deploy OTG publicly, explore investment possibilities, and expand the platform so it can support real racing teams and drivers. This project is just the beginning—and we can’t wait to see where OTG goes next.
