Inspiration:
There is a lot of music out there that does not help you immerse yourself in the place you want to be while allowing you to do work in a relaxed way. Imagine being in the streets of New York--while being able to complete a task or meditate. Those who want to do that can do so in Relaxify--an app where you can choose which place you want to go and immerse yourself in it.
Why Our Approach is Useful:
Relaxify is an app that solves two problems that others want: an ambient sound that people want to work in and place-based immersion. Instead of choosing a lofi playlist that reflects on your mood, you would instead choose a place that you want and feel immersed in it.
What We Learned
We learned a lot about working together as a team in order to create a project that would suit our needs. This app was created because we all gave ourselves time to brainstorm and think about what we wanted to do. After that, we decided to vote on whichever project sounded the most reasonable, and we were able to go on from there. We decided to have two people design the UI for the team, and two people create the code for this project, while communicating about what they thought of our designs. We also learned a lot about how APIs can be implemented into code. For example, our program allows us to look at the street view of Google Maps. Without the use of APIs, this would not have been able to fully immerse us in our environment.
How We Built Our Project
We first started off by giving ourselves thirty minutes in order to brainstorm what project would suit the theme of Fly Me To The Moon. After the thirty minutes were over, we each came together to see whose idea was the most unique in solving the problem. In the end, we decided to go for Relaxify, an app that immerses you in the environment that you choose. We decided to split ourselves up into two teams of two. One team designed the user interface, while the other worked on the project code. We communicated to each other throughout the process so that people were nobody was on the wrong page. For designing the user interface and the code, we vibe-coded the whole thing and came to a consensus on whether the idea that was implemented was good or not. We used Claude and Lovable for the whole team process. We didn't vibe-code the APIs, such as Google Maps Street View and the weather for the region. We had to implement those into the code ourselves so that the APIs would constantly update whenever you're using the app.
The Future
In the future, we hope to implement more places that you want to immerse yourself in, as there are countless wonders in the world. We also might think about adding your own music that you want and having it change based on the location that you want to be in. On top of all these updates, what better way to fully immerse yourself in this environment than by allowing them to use this app in VR? We hope to be able to make a VR update so that you're able to immerse yourself anywhere you want, especially with the new Meta VR glasses coming out.
Challenges Faced
One of the many of the challenges faced during our project were learning how to implement APIs into our code, especially the Google Street View API. To solve this challenge, we talked to each other about the problem and thought about what we had to do in order to get the API that we wanted for the code.
