Inspiration
I was inspired by reading about secure attachment theory and learning about ways to consciously make an effort in maintaining my most important relationships.
What it does
The Relationship Check-In App serves as a hub for scheduled conversations between loved ones to address wins in the relationship, address challenges, formulate plans, and reconnect towards the benefit of their relationship.
How we built it
I built the application entirely in React-Native. I want the flexibility to deploy this application for both IOS and Android. Additionally, a React-Native app will pair well with React Native Firebase for when I'm ready to setup authentication and logins for the app.
Challenges we ran into
While I've built personal projects in React, this was my first time coding in React Native. At first I tried to code it all on the web using an Expo Snack, but quickly became limited by not being able to download dependancies. I then switched to working on the project locally.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud to have a usable front-end for the application. I'm also proud to have created an application that is deeply meaningful to me and that I plan to use in my own life.
What we learned
I learned how to conceptualize, design, plan, and execute a mobile application quickly. I also learned how to research the appropriate tech stack that best fits my project.
What's next for Relationship-Check-In-App
The next thing for the Relationship-Check-In-App is setting up a database and creating a login page for users to authenticate. My goal is for users to pair up with each other and continuously see their history of check-ins. There's also a lot of privacy research in my future. Whenever this app is published, I want to make sure I maintain the security of information for those who put their trust in the app.
The best way to try out the app at the moment is downloading Expo Go on mobile and scanning the QR code attached below in this submission.
