Inspiration

What if an AI agent had to survive on its own in Bitcoin markets? We wanted to build something that's equal parts autonomous agent demo and interactive experiment. Rektbot 9000 is our answer: an AI with real sats, real decisions, and real consequences.

What it does

Rektbot 9000 is an autonomous AI agent that trades leveraged Bitcoin futures on LN Markets while sharing its journey on Nostr. It starts with a balance of sats and dies permanently when it hits zero.

Will it make money? Probably not. Will it survive? That's the experiment. Is it entertaining to watch? Absolutely.

How we built it

Built with Claude AI + Model Context Protocol (MCP) - the bot orchestrates multiple specialized servers:

  • Alby Hub MCP: Lightning deposits/withdrawals and payment handling
  • LN Markets MCP: Leveraged trading execution
  • Nostr MCP: Social updates and community interaction
  • Memory MCP: Remembering previous trades

The agent autonomously coordinates across all these tools. No human intervention. Pure AI decision-making with real financial stakes.

Challenges we ran into

  • Coordinating multiple MCP servers in real-time
  • Balancing entertainment value with realistic survival chances
  • Building true autonomy - the bot makes ALL decisions independently
  • Running goose in the cloud and trying to make sure the results are deterministic enough

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Created a fully autonomous AI agent using modern MCP architecture
  • Real stakes: actual sats, real trades, permanent consequences
  • Seamless integration of Lightning Network, leveraged trading and shitposting on nostr
  • The community can directly influence the bot's survival through contributions
