Inspiration
Most donations to centers are wasted. Users don't know what they can donate and where it's needed.
What it does
ReKindle quality checks items, finds the right location, and rewards users for their effort. This ensures all donated items can actually be used, reducing sorting time and preventing items from ending up in the trash.
How we built it
An expo app that uses Gemini to quality check items and find locations in need. react-native-maps (apple maps) directs users to the right location. Supabase stores data like previous user donations and current item categories in need at certain locations.
Challenges we ran into
Location mapping, image recognition, integrating stored data with front-end design
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built an app that efficiently addresses our main problem
What we learned
Better communication, clear design essential
What's next for ReKindle
Partnering with more organizations, simple expansion to users
