Inspiration

As independent filmmakers and actors, finding a reliable scene partner to practice lines with is one of the biggest bottlenecks in pre-production. Solo creators often struggle to rehearse effectively without someone reading the opposing character's dialogue. We wanted to bridge the gap between raw script text and live performance.

What it does

Rehearsal Room is an AI-powered script rehearsal bot. Filmmakers and actors can upload a PDF movie script or use sample screenplays, select a character, and rehearse interactively. The app uses AI to parse the screenplay, extract characters and dialogue, and act as a real-time, context-aware scene partner.

How we built it

• Replit & Replit Agent: Built, styled, and deployed completely within the Replit ecosystem, ensuring a fast development cycle and a live production-ready deployment.
• Google Gemini API: Powered by Google Gemini to dynamically parse PDFs, extract screenplay structures, and drive natural, in-character responses during live rehearsals.
• GitHub: Maintained with full version control and an open-source MIT license.

Challenges we ran into

Integrating reliable real-time PDF screenplay parsing while maintaining smooth, low-latency dialogue responses required precise API orchestration, which we solved using Replit Agent and Google Gemini.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Successfully built a fully interactive dark-mode studio interface.
• Integrated automated PDF script import and character selection.
• Deployed a robust, live-running application ready for indie creators.

What we learned

We learned how powerful combining Replit's deployment speed with Google Gemini's multimodal and text intelligence can be for rapid application prototyping in creative industries.
