Rehearsal Jam

This is an instrumental song that the band, Aurora Returns, likes to play as a warm-up at rehearsal. This video is a compilation of various shots of the band playing it in various rehearsals.

Inspiration

For awhile I've wanted to create a video that showed the whole band playing at once with consistent characters. That wasn't easily done, but new tools have made it possible for me.

What it does

The video shows the band, Aurora Returns, playing together at various rehearsal sessions as well as some extracurricular activities that show their camaraderie.

How we built it

The video clips were generated in Kling and Minimax. The song was done with Suno.

Challenges we ran into

A video like this required extensive editing to sync the audio and video. Specifically, drum hits and guitar parts were sync'd as closely as possible. Other challenges were keeping the characters mostly consistent in the non-rehearsal clips.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Overall, I believe there is a nice vibe to the video and that the band members appear to get along very well. Also, I think the syncing is such that some of the shots actually appear to be a person playing an instrument.

What we learned

I learned a lot about clip timing in editing and methods for achieving consistent characters that I can use to make future projects better.
