Inspiration

Rehabilitation often requires patients to repeat the same exercises for weeks or months, which can become repetitive and difficult to stay motivated with. We wanted to make these exercises more engaging by turning therapeutic movements into meaningful game interactions.

What it does

RehabHealer transforms prescribed rehabilitation exercises into interactive gameplay.

Patient movements control game actions. Camera/motion tracking detects movements. Exercises are converted into game objectives. Repetitions and performance are tracked. Difficulty can adapt based on performance. Progress can be reviewed by therapists. How we built it Unity for game development C# for programming Camera/Motion Tracking for detecting movements JSON/Local Storage for storing progress Designed the gameplay around simple therapeutic movements and rehabilitation exercises. Challenges we ran into Making movement tracking accurate enough for gameplay. Designing game mechanics that encourage therapeutic movements without changing the prescribed exercise. Supporting different patient movement abilities. Balancing engaging gameplay with medical safety requirements. Accomplishments that we're proud of Created a concept that connects rehabilitation with interactive gaming. Designed a system where therapeutic movements directly become game actions. Structured the idea around both patient engagement and therapist monitoring. Developed a foundation that can be expanded with better motion tracking and AI. What we learned

We learned that gamification should support the rehabilitation process rather than distract from it. Designing the game around the actual therapeutic movement helped us understand the importance of accuracy, safety, accessibility, and professional validation.
