Challenges we ran intoRegTrace is a policy-aware development workflow for AI coding agents.
Developers provide Claude with a local repository, a feature request, and the relevant company policies. Before coding begins, RegTrace reviews Claude’s implementation plan against both the real codebase and the supplied policies.
After implementation, RegTrace performs a separate review of the actual source code. If it finds a concrete conflict supported by the policy, Claude can fix the implementation and run a fresh review.
RegTrace runs locally as an MCP extension for Claude Desktop. Claude remains the reasoning and coding agent, while RegTrace provides repository context, a structured policy-review workflow, and controlled local code updates.
The goal is simple: make privacy, security, governance, and internal company rules part of the development process instead of checking them only after software has already been built.
