Inspiration

I was inspired by NASA and the fact that so much of our oceans and marine wildlife remain unexplored. I wanted to create a project that could help researchers discover and learn more about the deep sea.

What It Does

Deep Sea Explorer uses video and temperature data to track marine animals, record their locations, and monitor underwater environments. It visualizes discoveries to make deep-sea exploration easier to understand.

How We Built It

I built the project using Vite, TypeScript, and SpacetimeDB. SpacetimeDB connects the frontend and backend and supports real-time data updates.

Challenges We Ran Into

One of my biggest challenges was connecting the frontend and backend while keeping data synchronized in real time. I also had to figure out how to present underwater data and discoveries in a clear, useful way.

Accomplishments That We're Proud Of

I'm proud of the design and the potential for this project to support future ocean exploration. I created a foundation for visualizing underwater data and tracking marine life.

What We Learned

I learned more about deep-sea research, connecting frontend and backend systems, and SpacetimeDB's strengths, especially real-time synchronization and shared data.

What's Next for Deep Sea Explorer

I hope to develop a physical deep-sea exploration machine equipped with cameras, temperature sensors, and animal-tracking capabilities. In the future, it could collect real-world data and help researchers explore parts of the ocean that remain undiscovered.
