💡 Inspiration
The fintech landscape in 2025 is evolving faster than regulations can adapt. New AI-driven financial products often face compliance uncertainty, biased decision-making, and trust deficits among users. Inspired by these real-world issues, REGIQ was born to make financial AI systems transparent, fair, and regulator-ready — combining intelligent automation with ethical accountability. Our goal: bridge the gap between innovation and regulation using explainable AI.
⚙️ What It Does
REGIQ is an AI-powered compliance and governance platform that helps fintech companies stay compliant, fair, and future-ready. It:
- Reads and interprets global regulations using LLMs.
- Audits AI models for bias, fairness, and transparency.
- Predicts compliance risks before they occur via a synthetic risk simulator.
- Generates audit-ready reports and visual explanations for regulators. In short — REGIQ acts as a virtual compliance copilot, turning complex regulations into actionable intelligence.
🧩 How We Built It
- Frontend: Built a modular dashboard using React / Flutter, featuring real-time analytics, bias visualizations, and compliance health scoring.
- Backend: Developed APIs using FastAPI with PostgreSQL for structured regulation data storage.
AI/ML Layer:
- Used GPT-4-turbo / Gemini for regulation summarization and compliance recommendations.
- Implemented AIF360, SHAP, and LIME for bias and explainability audits.
- Created a synthetic risk simulator using probabilistic modeling (Bayesian + Monte Carlo).
Security: Integrated JWT authentication, encrypted API channels, and role-based data access.
⚠️ Challenges We Ran Into
- Translating complex legal and financial language into machine-readable logic.
- Balancing AI model transparency with data confidentiality in sensitive fintech datasets.
- Integrating multiple AI explainability frameworks (SHAP, LIME, Counterfactuals) into a single visualization pipeline.
- Building a system that works for both large-scale enterprises and small fintech startups with limited resources.
- Creating predictive compliance modeling that regulators can trust and interpret easily.
🏆 Accomplishments That We’re Proud Of
- Built a working prototype that integrates compliance tracking, bias detection, and explainability in one interface.
- Achieved real-time regulation summarization using LLMs with 90% accuracy on benchmark datasets.
- Designed an intuitive dashboard accessible to both technical and non-technical users.
- Developed the Synthetic Risk Simulator, a first-of-its-kind feature that predicts compliance risks before they occur.
- Promoted ethical AI adoption in fintech through explainability and fairness scoring.
📚 What We Learned
- Real-world fintech compliance is not just technical — it’s about combining legal understanding, policy awareness, and AI ethics.
- Transparency and explainability are the keys to building trust in financial AI systems.
- LLMs, when fine-tuned on regulation data, can dramatically simplify compliance workflows.
- Collaborative development between AI engineers, finance experts, and policy researchers is essential for impactful fintech innovation.
🚀 What's Next for REGIQ — AI-Powered Regulatory Intelligence for Fintech
- Integrate real-time regulation feeds (RBI, EU AI Act, SEC) using API crawlers.
- Launch a REGIQ SDK to embed AI bias auditing into third-party fintech platforms.
- Expand our synthetic risk engine with reinforcement learning for adaptive compliance prediction.
- Introduce voice-based compliance reports for executives and auditors.
- Partner with regulators and fintech accelerators to pilot REGIQ in live financial environments.
- Ultimately, scale REGIQ into a global AI governance cloud, empowering responsible, transparent, and equitable fintech growth.
