Regalis is a surprise gift marketplace where the minter it's not the one who receives the gift but an external address all this powered by chainlink VRF

Inspiration

We were inspired by the NBA Top Shot project where people can get the same moment and even repeat it, where they can put it on sale. Also one of the qualities is that the moment you get when you open an envelope is totally random, you can achieve that if you use Chainlink VRF.

What it does

Anyone who interacts with our dapp can get a totally random gift guaranteed by Chainlink VRF, and can try to be the first to complete the collection, which consists of different pieces of artwork related to Christmas and Thanksgiving.

How we built it

For the smart contracts we use Polygon chain and Openzepellin contracts for the ERC721 standard, and some utilities besides Chainlink VRF and Base64 which is a standard contract for metadata representation.

For the front end, we use NextJS and React as well as IPFS. For the backend, we use Moralis.

Challenges we ran into

One of the most difficult parts to work with were the events in the smart contracts, with Moralis it is easier to manage a history of events, and to be able to subscribe to them as if it were a database, but it was still complicated to make it work perfectly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the production times because despite not having a back-end team, hakacton lent us the tools to achieve a finished product despite not having experience in web3 engineering.

What we learned

Throughout the development of the project, we learned to optimize our team production work, it was an enriching experience by way of execution of tasks, much of the knowledge used was acquired on the fly in the hackathon events, with the cooperation of all developers we managed to lay the foundations in Moralis, Hardhat, Alchemy, IPFS.

What's next for Regalis

We project the future of Regalis as a "DAO" of content creators, which will have a marketplace, surprise boxes with random gifts depending on the current holiday, for example, in the month of February, the category will be Valentine's Day gifts, in October it will be Halloween. The rest of the year, generic gifts would be produced for the surprise boxes.

The choice of the creators of these NFTs will be determined by the DAO, which will be encouraged to choose the best artists as these members will get staking earnings, depending on the popularity of their creations.

For the creators it will also be beneficial, since having a higher visibility guarantees that their future creations will be perceived in a better way outside the Regalis marketplace.
