💡Inspiration💡

We know the struggles that refugees face when they escape their country. They have a hard time adjusting to their environment and setting up their new life. At Refugio, we empower refugees by providing them with necessary resources, including education, career, etc., and help them to be financially independent. You can access educational and career resources to help you to take control of your life. Education resources are provided to you, for a lower(or free*) price and you will have access to educators, mentors and volunteers. You can also browse for careers and see what suits your interests. Feeling lonely? Want to talk to someone who may have underwent the same thing you did? Look no further, Refugio will connect you to other refugees. You can talk to them to voice call or live chat.

❓What it does❓

The application is built with 6 key functions:

Resources and Utilities at Reduced Costs
Education Page for learning on the go and Certifications
Interview Prep & Career Focus Page(Job Ready)
Video Chat and Connections

🏗️How we built it🏗️

We mainly used HTML, CSS, JavaScript for executing the website. We used Figma to design the layout of the webpage. Using Python and Assembly Ai we integrated the Chatting and VideoCall Feature. We used CircleCi for Smooth Pipeline implementation and Coli for Web Monitization to make payments for availing subsidized rates for resources. Cockroachdb was used for storing all Analytics and User Details.

🚧Challenges we ran into🚧

We have a time zone difference which made it hard to work in teams. But we overcame it and have a blast while making a fun website together. It was a great team to work with! The best part about the team was since each and evryone on the team had a different skillset each and everyone contributed equally.

🏅🏆ACCOMPLISHMENTS THAT WE ARE PROUD OF🏅🏆

We are proud of the final project we built. We learned a lot while working on the project not just technically but also time management. We are proud we could complete the project and deliver a beautiful fully functional Hack this weekend. We also made good connection with teammates and learned alot of different technologies while implementing the project.

📚🙋‍♂️What we learned📚🙋‍♂️

We learned so much about HTML and CSS Design and implemented UI/UX to the fullest of our Capabilities to make it look Asthetic and Attractive for users. Considering the fact that half of the team were beginners in hackathons yet we were able to manage the time well and Implement the ideas we had brainstormed. We learned the use cases of each different technology and implementation through try and testing. Assembly Ai and CockroachDB were very intresting and fun to integrate and learn alot about Artificial Intelligence and Database Storages.

⏱⌛⏳🏃‍♂️Time Management⏱⌛⏳🏃‍♂️

We had a tough time managing time this weekend with our participation in this Hackathon as we had to work on multiple things altogether. We lost alot of hackathon time in brainstorming and team building yet we are proud that things went according to our plans. Fortunately, we could do this by distributing our work and focusing on multitasking. Extremely excited for all the learnings and teachings we had got through this hack.

💭What's next for Refugio💭

We aim to develop this platform and collaborate with users to make it a genuine free product that benefits everyone and introduces new features and other enhancements. We also would like to work more on the designing appeal and further add features that Bring the Refugee community closer.
