🚀 About the Project: ReFocus.AI Fighting Distraction With Its Own Weapons 🎯 Inspiration In a world designed to steal our attention — from infinite scrolls to constant notifications — staying focused has become harder than ever. We asked ourselves: What if we used the same psychology behind distraction to rebuild focus? That’s how ReFocus.AI was born — a smart, emotionally-aware productivity assistant that doesn’t just block distractions, but beats them at their own game.
🛠️ How We Built It We combined several technologies and concepts to build a prototype of ReFocus.AI:
Webcam + Keystroke Monitoring: For detecting drift and disengagement in real time.
Large Language Models (LLMs): To generate adaptive micro-tasks and motivational nudges.
Gamification Engine: Tracks focus streaks, scores, and uses them to motivate.
Audio Layer: Triggers “Future Whisper” voice prompts during dips in attention.
Emotion Detection (Prototype): Based on facial cues for real-time feedback loops.
📚 What We Learned Building focus isn’t about forcing willpower — it’s about designing emotionally resonant systems.
Subtle cues like audio nudges and motivational phrasing can dramatically shift engagement.
Users respond better to personalized prompts rather than rigid productivity frameworks.
🧗 Challenges We Faced Real-time Detection: Ensuring facial recognition and drift tracking didn’t feel intrusive or laggy.
Balancing Motivation & Pressure: Making “fear of loss” motivational, not anxiety-inducing.
UI/UX Design: Creating an experience that feels helpful, not overbearing.
🌟 What’s Next? We plan to integrate wearable data (like heart rate or eye movement), improve the adaptive task engine, and refine the “Future Whisper” voice to be even more personalized — so ReFocus.AI doesn’t just guide you, it grows with you.
