Inspiration
What it does
Searches for recipes based on a list of items that you enter
How we built it
We used Bootstrap, JS, CSS, HTML, Google Custom Search Engine, and used some Node.js with Excess to test it out on a local server
Challenges we ran into
Neither of us are experienced in back-end and so we ran into a lot of problems. Originally, we wanted to implement a user-login that would store their ingredient list. We tried using Firebase but couldn't get it to work. Then, we received some help from the hacker gurus and they introduced us to MongoDB using JSON files. Though we didn't end up needing these for our implementation, it was great to learn.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of building a basic version of what we had envisioned. It's a great building block for something even bigger.
What we learned
We learned so many things. We got introduced to so many technologies including MongoDB, Mongoose, npm, and the list goes on.
What's next for Refined-Taste
We would like to actually implement a user login system. We would also like the filter tab to work where the user can select/deselect the ingredients they want in the list. We would also love to refine the search so that it looks neat in a tile grid system. A lot of work is ahead, but we learned important fundamental skills.
