ReelShop was inspired by the growing trend of short-form video content and its impact on consumer behavior. Traditional e-commerce platforms lack engagement, so we aimed to create a reel-first shopping experience that makes product discovery fun, interactive, and seamless, aligning with SDG 9 to drive innovation in digital commerce.
ReelShop allows users to scroll through engaging short videos, explore products, and purchase instantly through integrated payment options. Businesses can showcase their products creatively, reaching customers organically and cost-effectively without heavy advertising.
We developed ReelShop using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with static data for product listings. The platform focuses on a smooth user experience, combining sleek UI design with intuitive navigation for seamless browsing and purchasing.
One major challenge was creating an engaging UI and UX that balances simplicity with functionality. We also had to ensure that videos load quickly and that product interactions feel natural and frictionless.
We successfully built a fully functional prototype that merges entertainment with e-commerce. Our interactive product discovery flow enhances user engagement, and we have created a strong foundation for future AI-driven recommendations and live shopping features.
