Inspiration

Our team is very diverse. We come from different cultures, work experiences, and age groups, but what unites us all, is the time we wasted binge-watching during the lockdown. Dedicating the last 24 hours to entertainment was our only way to clear our conscience from the drudgery of catching up on popular television. This comes from a person who watched almost all comic series, every docu-series, even adaptions of a moderately reviewed podcast.

What it does

Powered by TheMovieDb API, our Vue application, suggests movies on our custom discover page. We can search movies by the genre, release year, provider etc.

How we built it

Our exploration into UI and the application, lead us into winding paths of deploying the Vue app, configuring the backed, and integrating with our UX. The UX integrates minimalistic features from dating app and streaming, blending recognizable characteristics into the logo.

Challenges we ran into

The APIs doesn't exactly have any arrangement to search for keyboards, so all the IDs were translated into options that a user can use.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We learned together, communicated well, and faced all the challenges together as a team.

What we learned

We can name a lot of technologies that we learned Vue, JS, Ruby, Axios, Procreate, HTML, and CSS, but above all, we learned to work in harmony and blending complementary skills.

What's next for Reel Me In

Fine-tuning our search results, recommending shows based on history, tracking total watch time, adding a watch party. With respect to the interface, we would like to use our influence on dating app more on the user experience.
