Inspiration

I wanted to take the simple idea of tag and turn it into a fast underwater arcade experience. Reef-Tag started as a mobile game built around quick rounds, colorful sharks, and that feeling of saying, “One more round.”

What it does

Reef-Tag: Ocean Chase is an interactive 3D underwater website built around my shark tag game. The website places visitors inside a cinematic ocean environment and introduces the game through depth, movement, animated sea life, and playful interactions.

The game itself uses a 2.5D style designed for fast and addictive mobile gameplay.

How I built it

I created the game concept, gameplay direction, visual style, and user experience. I used Codex as an AI development partner to help build, test, improve, and debug the project.

I worked in small steps, repeatedly testing the game on my phone and improving the graphics, controls, movement, and overall gameplay feel.

Challenges

The biggest challenge was balancing detailed underwater visuals with smooth performance. I also had to make the movement feel responsive, keep the action easy to understand, and create enough depth to make the website feel truly immersive.

What I learned

I learned that small improvements can completely change how a game feels. Better movement, clearer visuals, faster feedback, and smoother transitions all help create the “one more round” experience.

What's next

Next, I plan to expand the underwater environment, polish the animations and sound, improve mobile performance, and continue developing Reef-Tag for a future mobile release.
