Inspiration

As we thought along the track of productivity, we narrowed down into the aspect of education and decided we wanted to create a platform that bridges gaps in education and more importantly in education that is crucial for the development of mankind's future. Hence, we zoomed into the sub-topic of education of sustainability, arriving at coral reef restoration. Did you know? More than 75% of the coral reefs in the Atlantic are threatened, of which 25% of marine species and over half a billion people depend on reefs for food, income, and protection.

What it does

Reef Restorers takes a gamified approach to learning where users will learn to identify damaged corals, restore them, and create thriving coral reefs. The goal is to maintain healthy reefs with an increasing rate of pollution that attract a diversity of sea creatures, "unlocking" new species as they progress through increasingly challenging levels. Leveraging on VR’s immersive and interactive environment to have hands-on experience with basic restoration techniques like cleaning corals, removing predators, and planting coral fragments.

Challenges we ran into

We struggled with fleshing out our many ideas into life, given our limited technical competency in unity. However, despite being intimidated by the daunting task of producing a polished and working product for the hackathon, we decided to still try implementing at least one of our ideas for submission.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

That we managed to all come together on the day of submission.

What's next for Reef Restorers

All of ideas for what's next have been elaborated in our slides!
