ReductressBot

Reductress is a satirical women's magazine similar to The Onion. We noticed that there is no subreddit for this wonderful website and saught to be the change we wished to see in the world. So that's pretty neat.

We built a Reddit bot that auto-posts all new Reductress articles from their RSS feed to /r/Reductress.

Worked with the PRAW library to read from and submit to Reddit. Worked with Reddit authentication and automating hourly updates by deploying the application to Heroku. It was very interesting to learn about several new tools that I hadn't had previous experience with.

Updated the bot to only check for its most recent post to the subreddit (instead of the most recent post). This allows other users to make posts without the bot accidentally reposting articles.

Bot has been deployed on Heroku and will automatically post any new articles each hour.

Bot is up and working manually. We are working on automating it so it runs every few hours or so.
