Inspiration-RoadSense was built on the belief that when you have data, you have knowledge. our experience with highroads and the lack of information from them even in 2020, brought us to a decision to develop smart infrastructure devices. with the Covid-19 phase we have decided to take the road's technology into the streets as we can detect overcrowding and much more.

What it does- the system knows to track people on any public domain, ingest it from many devices and create a real time picture, including alerts.

How we built it- With the help of Davide, Tosin and Avi we have made a significant progress in building the system's software.as for the hardware, we are using the top-tier radars available. they are very small and can track people for up to 100 meters.

Challenges we ran into- Our team effort included dealing with software and hardware challenges and for overcome them, we optimized the firmware code to handle a huge amount of data, by solving complex nested loops in C/C++ and parsing from scratch of a unique raw data set. We needed also to visualize the data in order to share with others our insights, So in a very short time we set up a dedicated cloud structure environment from scratch in Azure and developed using NodeJS and JavaScript a comprehensive web app and dashboard.

Accomplishments that we're proud of- building from scratch the software on many platforms and having the MVP ready. what a great team!

What we learned- monitoring people in the city , without privacy concerns can bring great values to the city, by understanding how people behave in the public space. it can improve the lives of the residents, their safety, reduce accidents, better allocating budgets and another endless use cases. in the phase of the COVID-19, we can make parks and shopping malls safer by identifying and counting people, and alert on crowded zones and safe points to be for keeping your health.

What's next for Reducing the spread of the virus in the public spaces- helping reduce the spread by offering our project to cities all around the world and try to make it commercialized.
