Inspiration

For women, by women. We want to reinvent and streamline the clothing donation process and connect minority and underprivileged women to clothing that they need. Fast fashion is a serious issue; people are buying clothing more often than they need. The average American buys 64-68 new pieces of clothing each year, as opposed to only 12 new pieces of clothing in the 1980s. How might we make the clothing donation process more efficient? Our solution aims to connect minority women in need to donors, taking advantage of the resources already available in their community. REdress enables women to donate their clothing directly to someone (nearby) in need. We want women to reconsider their contributions to fast fashion and find more efficient ways to give back.

What it does

An app that connects women who are interested in donating their clothes and women who need clothing.

How we built it

We prototyped our app using Figma and wrote a sample code using Python to process user inputs.

Challenges we ran into

Everyone in our group is relatively new to the field and had little to no experience.

Our UI is very clean and intuitive.

What's next for ReDress

-How do we connect the recipient? -Flesh out way for donator to communicate with people in need -Messaging system or human resources that work for ReUse -Partner with Goodwill to sort and distribute clothing that they actually need -develop an algorithm that connects users

-Currently operating on a system of TRUST, so we trust the “receiver” to truly be in need -Possible low income verification system, but not implemented yet -Want to maintain privacy, so figure out ways to verify the donator is making a real donation
