Inspiration
We were inspired by the real struggles of Thalassemia patients who need frequent blood transfusions but often face delays in finding donors. We wanted to create something that could connect people faster, smarter, and with heart. That’s how RedLink was born.
What it does
RedLink is a web app that: 🩸 Lets users post or respond to blood requests by blood group. 🏥 Checks nearby hospitals for blood availability in real-time. 🤖 Uses AI help to find the blood availability and send alerts to nearby eligible donors. 👥 Builds supportive blood group communities to share emergencies or updates. 📘 Offers mental health tips and Thalassemia education. 🏅 Rewards donors with badges and keeps a donation history.
How we built it
Frontend: React.js Backend: Node.js Real-time Database: Firebase AI Predictions: Python (for donor matching & shortage forecasting) APIs Integrated: Google Maps API
Challenges we ran into
🔍 Accessing real-time hospital data was difficult 🔐 Ensuring data privacy and security for sensitive health records 🌐 Training a multilingual chatbot with high accuracy 📉 Building AI models with limited blood donation data ✅ A working web app with live blood availability and donor features 📲 Smart alerts to notify eligible donors at the right time 🤝 Created a compassionate, community-focused experience
What we learned
💡 How to build tech that truly helps people ⚙️ The importance of user-friendly, real-time healthcare solutions 🔄 How to balance AI, UX, and privacy in one platform
What’s next for RedLink
🏥 Add more hospital data and expand to regional languages 🚀 Launch a public version on the Play Store 🤝 Partner with Blood Warriors to reach Thalassemia patients 🇮🇳 Become India’s go-to blood emergency app
