Inspiration The most iconic Reddit moments, like r/place, happen when thousands of individuals come together to achieve a single goal. I wanted to capture that magic in a daily format. I visualized a "Void"—a mystery that is impossible to solve alone but becomes an exciting adventure when a community coordinates. The black square isn't just an image; it’s a canvas for collective curiosity.

What it does Reddit Void is a daily social-deduction game built for the Reddit ecosystem. Every 24 hours, a new high-resolution image is hidden behind a shroud of darkness.

The Constraint: Each user is limited to only 5 Light Charges per day.

The Reveal: Each click uncovers a tiny fragment of the hidden world.

The Social Loop: Since one person cannot see the whole picture, the real gameplay happens in the Reddit comments. Users describe their findings, warn others not to waste clicks on empty space, and piece the puzzle together as a team.

How we built it The game was developed using Devvit Web to ensure seamless integration within Reddit's interactive posts.

Engine: I used HTML5 Canvas for rendering to ensure the game remains lightweight and responsive on mobile devices.

Daily Automation: I implemented a custom JavaScript controller that uses the system date to automatically rotate images and hints, ensuring a fresh experience every morning without manual updates.

UI/UX: The aesthetic follows Reddit’s "Dark Mode" philosophy, using a minimalist interface that keeps the focus on the mystery.

Challenges we ran into The biggest technical hurdle was creating a performant "clipping mask" system. Using the Path2D API allowed me to track multiple reveal points simultaneously without slowing down the browser, even as the "Void" becomes increasingly uncovered by user interaction.

Accomplishments that we're proud of I am proud of creating a game that bridges the gap between a Web UI and Reddit’s comment section. Most games are played in isolation, but "The Void" requires conversation to be conquered. We successfully turned a "post" into a 24-hour "event."

What's next for Reddit Void In the future, I plan to implement Community-Specific Voids, where subreddit moderators can upload their own images. I also want to add Global Leaderboards to track which subreddits solve their daily mysteries the fastest.

I've made this project alone and i am 14 year old indian boy, so if there is any circumstances(if I won or related to the game) to contact me contact on my email: yuvrajjain347@gmail.com
