Inspiration

We wanted to create a fun browser-based game inspired by the sense of community on Reddit. The goal was to build a simple adventure game where players complete quests, earn rewards, and stay engaged through achievements and progression.

What it does

Reddit Quest is a browser game where players complete community-inspired quests to earn points. As they progress, they unlock achievements and improve their score. The game is designed to be easy to play while providing an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

How we built it

  • HTML5
  • CSS3
  • JavaScript (ES6)
  • Phaser.js (planned for advanced gameplay)
  • Firebase (planned for leaderboard and cloud storage)

The game uses a simple scoring system, responsive user interface, and modular JavaScript structure that can easily be expanded with additional levels and features.

Challenges we ran into

  • Designing an engaging game concept within the hackathon time limit.
  • Creating a simple but scalable game architecture.
  • Planning future multiplayer and leaderboard features while keeping the initial version lightweight.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Built a working browser-based game prototype.
  • Designed a clean and responsive interface.
  • Created a project structure that is easy to extend with new content and features.

What we learned

This project helped us improve our understanding of JavaScript game logic, UI design, project organization, and browser-based game development.

What's next for Reddit Quest

  • Multiplayer gameplay
  • Global leaderboard
  • Daily community quests
  • Reddit API integration
  • AI-generated quest system
  • New maps, characters, achievements, and seasonal events
