Inspiration

Moderators spend significant time responding to "why was my post removed?" messages. Reddit's built-in removal reasons only post public comments, they don't DM the user directly or log mod notes for team audit. RedCard Mod closes this gap.

What it does

RedCard Mod adds a "Remove with Explanation" menu item on posts and comments in the mod queue. When triggered:

  1. Opens a template picker (Spam, Rule Violation, Off-Topic, Harassment, Misinformation, Repost, Custom)
  2. Removes the post/comment
  3. Sends the author a private DM with the reason and appeal instructions
  4. Logs a mod note on the user's profile for team transparency Subreddit mods can add up to 2 custom templates via App Settings. ## How we built it Built with Devvit (Reddit's Developer Platform) in TypeScript. Uses Devvit's Reddit API for post/comment removal, private messaging, and mod notes. ## Challenges Configuring the Devvit media block to recognize SVG assets for the app icon. ## What's next Add configurable appeal URLs and support for automated removal rules.
