Inspiration

Singapore's ageing population creates a growing need for community healthcare, but ageing is not occurring uniformly across neighbourhoods. Our preliminary analysis found that today's elderly hotspots may differ substantially from tomorrow's: for example, Woodlands had more than twice as many residents aged 50–64 as residents aged 65+ in 2020.

This inspired HealthPulse: a forward-looking tool to help planners identify where community-care pressure may emerge before demand peaks.

What it does

HealthPulse aims to forecast ageing-driven community-care demand across Singapore's planning areas and compare projected demand with geographically accessible care supply. Rather than asking only “Where are the most seniors today?”, HealthPulse asks: “Which neighbourhoods are likely to need additional community-care capacity next?”

The final platform will rank emerging care-pressure hotspots, visualise them on an interactive map, and allow planners to explore alternative ageing and policy scenarios.
