REDACT is an augmented reality object-inspection Lens for Snap SPECS, developed for the Learn AR with SPECS hackathon. Built around a three-stage interaction model — SCAN, INSPECT, RELEASE — the project translates an object-inspection concept into a structured interface intended for hands-free, glanceable use on AR glasses.
The technical work focuses on Lens Studio development, SPECS Base Template integration, and an interaction flow designed around the constraints of wearable computing. The project defines distinct inspection states, organizes object-related information into a compact presentation, and provides a clear transition between initiating an inspection, reviewing available information, and dismissing the interface. Its implementation distinguishes functional interface behavior from capabilities requiring additional sensor integration or verified object-recognition support.
REDACT's central achievement is its universal approach to object inspection: establishing a reusable interaction framework that can be adapted across objects, environments, and information contexts rather than being limited to a single predefined subject. By treating scanning, inspection, and release as a consistent interface protocol, REDACT positions spatial computing as a general-purpose layer for accessing and organizing object-related information through augmented reality.
