Inspiration

This project was inspired by the idea that Red Riding Hood never had a choice in how her story was told. I wanted to give her a real voice in a world where characters get rewritten and reused. The moment I wrote the line “She was never asked,” the whole theme became clear. This is Red fighting back.

What it does

The project turns the classic fairytale into a spoken word performance with a darker mood. It shows Red pushing through a world of code, memory, and digital noise while she takes back her identity. The video supports the words with strong visuals that match the emotion and the message.

How we built it

I created the song in Suno. I designed the visuals and layout in CanvaPro. I used Flow AI to create the video scenes that bring Red to life in a modern world. Everything was put together to match the pacing and style of the spoken words.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was shaping the look and feeling of Red in a way that felt modern but still connected to the old story. I also had to make many choices about which visual style to keep because there were so many strong options. Finding the right tone and rhythm for the spoken word delivery took time and testing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of how Red’s voice comes through clearly in both the audio and the visuals. The project feels emotional, strong, and true to the message. I am also proud that the video and song work together as one full story.

What we learned

I learned how powerful spoken word can be when combined with strong visual storytelling. I also learned more about timing, rhythm, and how to shape scenes that support emotion without taking over the message.

What's next for Red Riding Hood (She Was Never Asked)

I want to expand the story into a series with more episodes that explore other forgotten characters. This project opened the door for more spoken word pieces with stronger messages and deeper themes.
