Inspiration

During quarantine, a new show, called Squid Game, appeared on my screen on Netflix. I clicked on it, and I was soon hooked to the show. One of the games I remember was Red Light Green Light. Because of this experience, I wanted to recreate this game somehow, but how?

What it does

My game, Red Light Green Light, is a Roblox game that allows users to experience the famous South Korean game from Squid Game. Users will have to stop at Red Light, but if they do move at Red Light, they will die. However, at Green Light, users are able to move or stand still.

How we built it

I built this using Roblox studio. Roblox studio has a design tool, in which I used to create all the design elements in the game. To make this game all come to life, I used Lua. Lua allowed me to code the whole game, like the Red Light and Green Light functions.

Challenges we ran into

Throughout coding Red Light Green Light, I faced several bugs. Many of those bugs were from small errors, like capitalizing and misspelling variables. However, I struggled to get the invisible wall to disappear when the game started, make the players die at Red Light, and keep track of user's wins.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am most proud that I was able to get this project, Red Light Green Light, done as this project took a very long time to do.

What we learned

I learned a lot more about Lua and Roblox Studio's design tool as I was unfamiliar with these.

What's next for Red Light Green Light

I want to include some updates to this game, like adding item shops and more. I hope for other people around the world to experience my game and enjoy playing Red Light Green Light
