Inspiration
We were inspired by the shocking information we learned about the period stigma and how that limits those who have it. We wanted to join the movement and help de-stigmatize periods by educating, empowering and supporting those with a lack of supply of sanitary resources and understanding on periods.
What it does
RED is a website that teaches people about periods and common misconceptions that have limited people with periods before. (Includes transgender and non-binary)
How we built it
We used HTML, JS, and CSS.
Challenges we ran into
We had bugs that we needed to fix but couldn't find out where. Some of the team had never coded before, so there was a learning barrier. Also, when working on the code together, some of it did not save, and we had to re-write it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of learning how to code and building a website that educates all and is part of a very important movement that defends HUMAN RIGHTS.
What we learned
We learned how to persevere through challenges, and to that coding isn't as scary as we thought. We also learned how to work better together in teams and for some of us, how to code, and we all improved in our coding skills!
What's next for RED.
We want to learn how to code more in order to improve our website with more time together. We want our website to educate more and more and help others learn about periods and support those who are in period poverty, pass on the "luxury tax" on periods.
