Inspiration

Recyclopia's inspiration mainly from the idea of extending the current Plastic Bottle Deposit Systems by allowing it to also accept materials like aluminum, paper, packaging cardboard, etc. Thus, targeting UN SDG-12 and 14, and also, reward the user for depositing recyclables by not only cash but also by being able to redeem eco-friendly goodies promoter further sustainable development.

What it does

Recyclopia is an initiative that aims to establish certain recyclables collection machines all over the globe and give the users points via the Recyclopia app every time they deposit recyclables. When enough points have been collected, the users will be able to redeem it as cash or eco-friendly goodies like household or clothing items.

How we built it

The app's prototype was built with Flutter and recyclable collection machine was prototyped by Blender. The slides were built with Microsoft PowerPoint.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of being able to extend an already tested idea to a much better system and also, being able to do that in such a short amount of time. Every member in the team excelled in the tasks they were assigned and hence, we were able to come up with Recyclopia relatively quickly.

What we learned

Every team member new unique things; Overall, we learnt about how to streamline the journey that goes from coming up with an idea to making it a displayable prototype, material designs, 3D modelling, server architectures, and a few other things.

What's next for Recyclopia

The next step is to team up with organizations and launch the Recyclopia app starting from a single region and extending it to there and making it a worldwide phenomenon that helps make our world be a little more cleaner and greener :)
