We wanted to see what programming meme was the best
What it does
The app allows anyone to vote for two memes at a time. There's a results page that shows what meme was voted the most
How we built it
We built it with React and ChakraUI. For the backend, we used Firebase.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into challenges in querying firebase for our data, and displaying images of different sizes in a standardized format
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This is the first time hackathon we used react and firebase to build something, and it was a tough learning curve.
What we learned
We learned how to use Firebase to store, and query data. We also learned about using Chakra UI to build amazing-looking components.
What's next for BetterMeme
We plan to have a mobile app for users to swipe left/right to vote for memes.
