Inspiration

Over the creation of this project we were inspired by the theme of the sustainability track to make recycling and composting more accessible in Passaic which is one of the lowest percentage recycling counties in New Jersey.

Function

With our mobile trash unit we are able to publicize our company. Scanning the QR code attached to the trash unit takes a user takes to a website with resources on proper recycling and waste disposal.

Construction

Coded on HTML/CSS.

Challenges

As beginners, it was difficult thinking of and executing a project as we had no knowledge/experience with coding languages and what each language had the capacity to accomplish.

Accomplishments

This is the project any of us have ever coded. Being able to make something that could have a potential impact makes us feel very accomplished to begin with.

What was learned

We learned basic commands in HTML and the skill of teaching ourselves a skill and improvising with resources that were accessible to us.

What's next for RecycleHub

While we may not do so in this hackathon, we would like to finish the website and see it through as this could have a larger impact than anticipated.
