Motivation: The motivation behind RecycleConnect is deeply rooted in the pressing need to address the mounting environmental challenges posed by plastic waste, which has become a transboundary issue due to global patterns of consumption and production. The ever-increasing consumption of plastics has led to a dire situation of pollution, resource depletion, and ecosystem degradation that transcends borders. Current recycling rates are insufficient to mitigate these effects, and the cycle of plastic production, consumption, and disposal remains largely linear and detrimental on a global scale. Recognizing this, RecycleConnect seeks to inspire a paradigm shift by empowering businesses to make sustainable choices through trading agreements that support responsible plastic flows and circularity. Our Tableau dashboard leverages data assets for dynamic filtering, interactive mapping, and predictive modeling. This yields actionable insights from intricate market dynamics. RecycleConnect is motivated by global best practices in recycled plastics use. While success in developed nations hasn't fully translated to the US, we replicate transparent, efficient, and collaborative models. Applying advanced analytics to bridge information gaps, we drive domestic recycled plastics adoption, accelerating a sustainable circular economy. In essence, RecycleConnect merges tech innovation with market solutions, championing data-driven choices that cut waste and boost local recycling.

One of the foremost challenges revolved around acquiring accurate market prices for different types of plastics from companies. This critical information was essential for creating a reliable and effective platform. However, due to the lack of consistent and transparent pricing data available from companies, we encountered the following difficulties:
1. Lack of Transparency: Many companies were hesitant to disclose their actual market prices for recycled plastics. This lack of transparency stemmed from competitive concerns, fluctuating market conditions, and the absence of standardized pricing mechanisms.
2. Fragmented Data Sources: The recycling industry is fragmented, with various manufacturers and distributors following different pricing structures. Gathering comprehensive and up-to-date pricing data required accessing multiple sources, often with varying levels of accuracy and consistency.
3. Variable Pricing Factors: Recycled plastic pricing is influenced by numerous factors, such as resin type, quality, geographic location, demand, and supply. Incorporating all these variables to create an accurate pricing model was complex and required extensive data analysis.
