Inspiration

Recycle Star was born out of the personal experience of one of our team members who faced the challenges of navigating recycling practices when she first arrived in Canada. Recognizing the difficulties many newcomers face in understanding the recycling system and the disparities between their home countries and Canada, we were inspired to create a solution. Our aim is to provide a user-friendly and interactive website that serves as a comprehensive resource, addressing the specific needs of newcomers. To ensure accessibility for users with color blindness, Recycle Star has been thoughtfully designed with color-blind-friendly colors.

What it does

At Recycle Star, our primary goal is to demystify recycling and make it easily understandable for everyone. Whether you are new to recycling or seeking to expand your knowledge, we offer valuable advice, information, and resources to guide you through the process. Through a series of engaging and interactive mini-games, we make learning how to recycle enjoyable and straightforward. Our game challenges users to classify recyclable items into different recycling bins, enhancing their understanding of proper recycling practices.

In addition to the educational aspect, Recycle Star also provides a "Find a Recycle Depot" feature. This page includes an interactive map that showcases all ReturnIt locations in British Columbia, making it convenient for newcomers to locate nearby recycling centers. We also provide external resource links for users to explore further information on recycling practices, ensuring they have access to a comprehensive range of materials.

Furthermore, Recycle Star offers a unique "Recycling Challenge" page. Here, users are presented with exciting challenges that encourage them to think creatively about repurposing once-unusable items. By promoting innovative ways to reuse materials, we aim to inspire users to adopt sustainable practices and reduce waste.

Overall, Recycle Star is a one-stop solution that empowers newcomers to quickly grasp the intricacies of recycling in Canada. With our engaging games, informative resources, and practical challenges, we strive to make recycling accessible, enjoyable, and impactful for everyone.
