💡 Inspiration

I've been travelling, and in one of the railway stations, there were 5 bins with no description at all, just different colours.

This inspired me to build a tool with a database of common waste that is thrown at the railway station. A way people can figure out which bin to put the waste in.

🧠 What it does

Recycle It is an online platform that provides information and guidance to help people identify and properly dispose of their recyclable items.

Recycle It provides users with a comprehensive list of items that can be recycled, as well as detailed instructions on how to sort, store, and dispose of them properly. The platform also offers tips on how to reduce waste and save money by buying and using products that are made from recycled materials. Additionally, Recycle It features a variety of educational resources that can be used to teach people about the importance of recycling and its impact on the environment.

🔨 How we built it

I built Recycle It using React JS. We created a React front end. We used a React routing system to manage the different pages and React components to display the information for each item.

🧠 Challenges we ran into

We had to ensure that the information provided was relevant and matched up with the information provided by local recycling centres. Additionally, we had to ensure the search function was working correctly and that all the components were displayed correctly. Finally, we had to ensure the application was easy to use and optimised for performance.

I'm a beginner using React, and It was time to figure out Routes for pages.

🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of

Recycle It provides educational resources that can be used to teach & build awareness among people. Finally, Recycle is user-friendly and easy to navigate, making it a great tool for anyone looking to impact the environment positively.

⭐️ I also put a lot of thought into building a UX that could be used in a railway station.

⏩ What's next for Recycle It

We plan to continue to expand Recycle It database with resources. Ideally in the future,
