Inspiration

We were inspired by the problem that humans, globally, generate about 1.3 billion tons of trash per year, which is far more than we can properly process or recycle. For that reason, we decided that we should contribute to reducing the amount of waste humans produce by targeting one of the three R's: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. With the rise of sustainability of our times, we aim to teach our future generations how to properly recycle and sort waste. We are the first step in the recycling process when we discard materials into the recycling bin, therefore, it is crucial that humans understand how to differentiate from different types of garbage, in order to save the environment.

What it does

The website has the user learn how to differentiate from garbage that can be recycled, trashed, or placed into the compost bin by going through the instructions page. After learning about how to sort garbage there, the user can start playing and practice sorting garbage on their own by matching the items to the correct bins.

How we built it

First, we brainstormed how we could layout this game to make it educational and simple for children. We used Figma to layout the wireframes. Then, we use html5, css, and javascript to build the components and pages.

Challenges we ran into

Some challenges we ran into were positioning elements and coding the backend with javascript.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of creating an educational source for children to grow into sustainable humans on this earth! For ourselves, we are proud of learning more about positioning, javascript, html, and css!

What we learned

We learned how to better use html, css, and javascript and gained a better familiarity with Figma. We also improved our communication skills to smoothly work together to create our project.

What's next for Recycle Babies

Recycles Babies will have more interactive components to the game and a soundtrack!
