Inspiration
As someone who has been involved in sports since my school days, I noticed that athletes often focus more on training and performance than recovery. Sometimes, small signs of discomfort after training are ignored. This made us think about how technology could help athletes understand their recovery better. That idea led to RecoverX.
What It Does
RecoverX is a smart wearable recovery system designed for athletes. It combines sensors and a mobile application to monitor recovery-related parameters such as temperature, movement, pressure, and physiological signals. We also aim to integrate supportive recovery methods like controlled heating and cooling, compression, and near-infrared support into the system.
How We Built It
We started by integrating sensors with an ESP32 microcontroller and exploring how to collect and monitor data from different inputs. We are also developing the mobile application to make recovery information easier to access. Our approach is to bring monitoring and recovery support together in one connected system.
Challenges and Learning
Integrating multiple sensors, managing hardware connections, and bringing the different components together have been some of our main challenges. Through this project, we have learned about embedded systems, sensor integration, software development, and the importance of safety when designing a wearable device.
RecoverX is still under development, and further testing and validation are needed. Our goal is to make recovery monitoring more accessible and help athletes give recovery the same importance as performance.
