Inspiration

Many customers experience situations where money is deducted from their bank account, but the merchant still shows the payment as failed or pending. This leads to confusion, duplicate payments, refund requests, and increased customer support tickets.

We wanted to improve payment transparency by helping both merchants and customers understand the real-time status of a payment.

What it does

ReconAI is an AI-powered payment intelligence platform built on top of the Pinch Payments API.

It monitors payment events, tracks the payment journey, detects delayed confirmations, and provides simple, real-time explanations for both merchants and customers.

Instead of showing only "Payment Failed" or "Payment Successful", ReconAI explains what is actually happening during the payment lifecycle.

How we built it

We designed a dashboard that integrates with Pinch Payments APIs and webhooks to receive payment events.

ReconAI processes these events and generates:

• Live payment timeline
• AI-powered payment explanations
• Merchant dashboard
• Smart customer notifications
• Payment reconciliation insights

Challenges we ran into

Understanding real-world payment reconciliation, designing meaningful payment states, and creating a user experience that reduces confusion without exposing technical complexity.
