Have you ever wondered just how much of an impact your actualy making when you recycle? Now, with Recircle, a new cutting edge app that calculates how much greenhouse gases and resources you save.

Inspiration

Research on how little people knew about recycling and the impact that it could make.

What it does

The app would calculate how much greenhouse gases would be saved from being emitted and how much resources you would save from being harvested and used when you recycle something. The user also has the option to sum up all their stats from previous recycling together and look at the cumulative impact that the individual had made.

How we built it

We used Android Studio as our Software Development Kit (SDK), Kotlin as our main language and XML to make up the design of the app.

Challenges we ran into

Brainstorming ideas, research and mostly bugs we faced while developing the app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to complete the app on time, and it works!! (hooray!) We are really proud of our UI choice.

What we learned

Just dive into something you want to learn - don't wait. The sooner you get in, the deeper your knowledge and understanding will be.

What's next for Recircle: The Ultimate Recyculator

We plan to add more new features, such as a page for environmental events near the user, a mapping section so the user would see where the nearest recycling bin/center is nearest to the user, and many others.
