Inspiration

While pondering over how we would tailor our project towards a leisurely activity that can be utilized in the comfort of anyone's home, we decided that we would base it off of mobile social media applications. However, to stand out from the herd, we wanted to center our project on a more specific subject that would inspire activity while being a fun past time and potentially spark connectivity at home and in a virtual space. We then decided to contribute to the culinary field and design the application to be a hub for sharing all sorts of creative recipes to inspire individuals to find their own cooking capabilities, collaborate with family and friends, and overall live a healthier lifestyle while hibernating at home. Thus, ReciPlease was born.

What it does

ReciPlease is a social media platform for posting recipes that are shared to all users. It essentially has four pages the user can access: home page, profile page, post page, and search page. The home page is where users are presented with the day's most trending posts to get an instant inspiration to cook, the profile page is where users depict their unique food preferences, the post page is for posting original recipes, and the recommend page is for attaining recipe recommendations. The search page is powered by an AI program that prompts the users for specific preferences on what recipes they are seeking then it will automatically recommend a recipe afterwards.

How we built it

The application was designed through Figma prototyping and the AI program was created with Alan AI through Javascript.

Challenges we ran into

There were several obstacles we faced in trying to create the AI program. It often was a struggle to make the program work to our preference, the changes would not appear in the monitor, and the creation of the code was a rigorous trial of overlooking syntax errors that were difficult to spot.

We were proud to have successfully designed our app to suit our ideas and run a functioning AI program.

Whenever there comes a moment that people are at a loss of plans to do while snuggling up in their warm homes, we hope that ReciPlease will be the shining star to get them energized to live healthier. This application will not only inspire new minds to discover their cooking skills, but be the catalyst to stir connections across a plethora of arenas and tie the world in virtual knots.
