Inspiration
Our inspiration was our lack of ideas for recipies and lack of a good medium to share cooking results with friends.
What it does
Allows users to input what ingredients they have and recieve recipes based off of their ingredients and dietary restrictions, in addition to being able to share their cooks with friends.
How we built it
We used React Native, connected to a Firebase database with a REST Api that allows us to recieve recipies based on user inputted preferences and ingredients.
Challenges we ran into
Limitations from the api.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to finish the entire application that used natural language and user preferences to identify recipes that fit their pantry.
What we learned
We learnt a lot about the software development lifecycle and how to effectively built products in teams. We learnt a lot about the limitations of Rest API's in finding and using one. Furthermore, it was our first dabble at Firebase and connecting to the Firestore with authentication and it was a blast seeing it come into real life.
What's next for Recipify
Using a CV to take a picture of one's pantry and using computer vision to find what ingredients are there and use API to come up with recipes.
