Inspiration
My Inspiration came from my own family, as during these times we were looking to try some new food and recipes without ordering online, as we did not think it was too safe. When we went online, we realized that there was no dedicated site to telling us some great recipes. There were only Youtube Videos and maybe some sites with vague instructions. Some things we found didn't even say what ingredients we needed. After thinking about that I realized for this Hackathon I would create a site that can help others share their own recipes.
What it does
This site will allow anyone to share their recipes online. This will allow the public to view them and rate their recipes on the site itself. Restaurants and upcoming chefs can also link through this website as restaurants can view a chef's recipe and see if they would like to hire the chef or even ask for the recipe usage.
How I built it
I built it using Google Sites.
Challenges I ran into
The challenge I ran into was the fact that this is my first ever Hackathon, and I did no know what was going on at the beginning. Due to this, I did not have a team which did make me feel like I wasn't getting as much input and ideas put into my site compared to others.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Something that I am proud of is that the fact that I was brave enough as a Highschool Student to go and try something new without any further assistance. I am also happy that I was able to get myself an idea quite quickly.
What we learned
I learned that working solo is easy as there are not many arguments or conflicts during the working periods, but it also made me realize that having others can really improve the initial idea by an extravagant amount.
What's next for RecipesAndMe
I will try and improve the website even more, maybe by making accounts, so that people can bookmark recipes and so that people can view one another profiles.
